The most shocking sight to see is children living right here in the richest nation in the world and in some of the richest neighborhoods homeless and starving. Is our country putting more of our families at risk of becoming homeless and at the brink of poverty. Unfortunately 3.5 million people, 39% are children, currently experience homelessness, and it’s moving across the United States. Hunger and starvation is increasing not just for adults but for our children as well. Some facts about homeless youth; When it comes to contracting HIV the homeless youth is ten times more likely the higher risk. Runaway females living homeless on the streets acount for a tenth of the homeless and are reportedly pregnant. This year out of the 260 runaways and homeless youth on the streets of our cities will die from assault, some illness and or suicide. We need to make a change, “Homelessness, Who’s Next?”

I have been doing some resurch on the subject of homeless children in America. Acoudring to the “National Center on Family Homelessness” there are 1.5 million children in America who are or will experience homelessness this year. Our government is running a deficit and borrowing money to make up the difference. Some of the interest of the national debt has to be added to the War in Iraq and the War in Afghanistan. The cost is now $7.1 billon a month since 2003, The report clams that homeless children endure a lack of safty, privace, comfort, and reassuring routines and adequate health care. Out of 45,000 homeless youth, over 18,000 of those are under the age of 6. After maxing out their time limits and moving from shelter after shelter these experiences will inflict a profound and lasting scar. We shouldn’t have homeless children in America. I say borrow from the $7.1 billion of the money going to the War effort and make an effort to create real programs that work and provide real lasting shelter for all the homeless.

Housing will not cure homelessness alone, it is a fact that the lack of affordable housing is one of many complex problems. What is your “Viewpoint”

In my research I found that the primary cause of family homelessness is that families cannot afford housing. This is both because there is an inadequat supply of low-cost housing, and because the families’ incomes are so low that that they cannot pay for the housing that is available. An added factor is the failure of public “safety net” programs to adequately address the housing needs of these families. The shortage of affordable housing for low-income families is often likened to a game of musical chairs. There are simply more households that need housing then there are housing units. When the music stops, some families are left without a place to stay, many of these families become homeless. Let me hear your comments on what you think of the housing problem in this country. Dr. Carlton Young

700,000 to 2 Million people are homeless
in American and nearly 154,000 veterans
are homeless on any given night. Another half million are at risk of becoming homeless. Atlanta, Georgia is
considered the second meanest city toward the homeless, there is between 17,000 and 20,000 homeless people living in the city of Atlanta. It is estimated that about 60 homeless prople die from being out in the cold each year in the Atlanta area. The impact of the recession has taken its toile on the economy and the working population; 1.3 Million + people have lost their jobs, homes and in some case their families since the start of the downturn. But U.S. Companies are still downsizing (Laying off) and outsourcing
jobs overseas for the cheaper labor. These companies believe they are saving money, but the truth about it is, its coasting American Million$. I’m thinking about a TV talk show that tells the real story of our Nations history and its long over due homeless problem. What do you think…. Dr. Young

Recently at the NABCJ conference in Atlanta I was given a feedback form from an anonymous NABCJ member, this person wrote: My mother recently made me move out of the house without notice. She threatened to shoot me if I came back to get anything I left. When I leave this conference I have no place to live except my car. I have never experienced anything. – Anonymous

Dear Anonymous; when we think we are at the lowest point in our lives we begin to believe we are in a hole way over our heads. Sometimes your hole can be Your Job, Your family, Your marriage or just the thing you are going through right now.
Remember Daniel when he was thrown into the lion’s den. Daniel was a man of great faith and prayer. Daniel had to make a choice when he faced death, stand on his beliefs or give into the circumstances that surrounded him. You see Daniel prayed and by praying he was looking up.

I need you to find yourself an extended stay motel and give me a call so that we can talk about what your next step will be. Right now you think you are at your lowest point in your life, “Your Hole” and you think you are in deep over your head. Look up anonymous and you will see that “Your” hole is not as deep as you think. Your spiritual man inside you is not in a hole. There is hope for these tough times but you must have faith. Believe in yourself and trust your own abilities, “No Condition” is permanent. In the spite of how things may look “Your Hole is Never Too Deep for God”. Anonymous you have my contact information call me so we can talk. Start telling yourself things will get better and believe things will get better and they will. Let me help you to set yourself up to win and your success will find a way.
